My Mother’s Recipe Spring 2019

May 18, 2019 @ 12:30 pm EDT

free

My Mother’s Recipe is the signature semi-annual event of the CareGivers’ Project held in a variety of locations since 2010. My Mother’s Recipe is best described as a multi-generational mingling and networking potluck with raffle and story telling about food and caregiving. It is a social event for caregivers to attend with care receivers which is not the utilitarian doctor’s visit, beauty parlor or worship service outing.

The purpose of My Mother’s Recipe is to celebrate the bond between caregiver and care receiver through sharing of a home-cooked dish and recipe which has been handed down from an earlier generation with other care pairs in their community.

This event brings together older people who live in their own homes, independent and assisted living and nursing homes and their caregivers. It is open to fathers, sisters, caregiving neighbors, home health aides and past caregivers.

The theme for Spring 2019 is nuts.

A nut is a fruit composed of an inedible hard shell and a seed, which is generally edible. The translation of “nut” in certain languages frequently requires paraphrases, as the word is ambiguous. Are nuts and seeds used in cooking in your family recipes?  Tahini sauce? pistachio cookies? Pesto?
